Buildings & Energy Ltd. is committed to supplying Display Energy Certificates and Advisory Reports in line with government directives.  We seek to form partnerships with public bodies to help in the identification, collation and analysis of the data necessary to produce the certificates.  In addition we work in partnership to produce Advisory Reports which are valid, coherent and of practical value. 

By 1 October 2008 public sector occupiers of buildings over 1,000 sqm will need to have a Display Energy Certificate (DEC) in a prominent place where it is clearly visible to the public, unless there are exceptional circumstances. They will also need to have in their possession a valid Advisory Report (AR) which will be valid for seven years. This will show the Operational Rating, relating to the actual energy consumption of the building over a three year period. It will also include a reference value (a current legal standard or benchmark) to which it can be compared – and will be a measure of how well the building is being used in practice.

What Buildings are affected?

Only buildings occupied or part occupied either by a public authority or an institution providing a public service to a large number of persons and who are therefore frequently visited by those persons (referred to as relevant institutions), and with a total useful floor area greater than 1000m2 are affected by this legislation.
